Although it does not prevent fleas, the active ingredient, imidacloprid, is a potent insecticide that works to kill fleas when they bite your dog. When fleas ingest the product, the active ingredient over-stimulates the flea's nervous system and kills the flea. Advantus soft chews should not replace your dog's flea and tick prevention.
